Soul magic

I prefer to paint from inspiration sourced in a spiritual experience of the natural world.
I prefer to have a profound affinity with what I paint.

I prefer to be emotionally moved by what I paint.

Often I prefer not to sell what I create because the aforesaid naturally dictates that.

Experience of the natural world is my deepest, clearest most resonant inspiration for painting, sclupting, writing.

What I produce is not ready until it carries that resonance for me… and hopefully for others.

That resonance once captured (e.g. as a painting) means the art object has a symbiotic relationship with me… (OED: from Greek sumbiosis : a living togther.)

Selling that sort of work provokes the same feelings in me as would giving away ones child or lover. It is a soul-deep wrench.

I do not start where many artists start. E.g: I hope, when finished, this will sell.

They would argue: “But bills have to be paid”. They do. But if I start a work with that impetus…  I produce a lot less than my best.

If I start only from where my heart starts – I produce soul: magic.
